GUC Receives NCDOL Safety Awards

May 2, 2016

Greenville Utilities was recognized for our safety record by the NC Department of Labor (NCDOL) and the Greenville-Pitt Chamber of Commerce during the annual Safety Banquet on April 21st. We were honored with 18 safety awards. Many of our departments and offices were recognized for a low rate of injuries. For some, this was the tenth consecutive year to be honored at the annual banquet.

NCDOL's Safety Awards Program was established in 1946 and recognizes private and public firms throughout the state that maintain good safety records.

Gold Level Awards were presented to companies with days away from work, job transfers or restricted time rates at least 50% below industry average. Awards at this level went to the Water Treatment Plant (10th year), Administration and Administration Building (9th year for both), Express Office (9th year), Human Resources (9th year), Information Technology (9th year), Wastewater Treatment Plant (9th year), Customer Relations (3rd year), Meter (2nd year), Red Banks (2nd year), GUC as a whole (1st year), Engineering/Operations Center (1st year), Finance (1st year), Gardner Training Center (1st year), Gas Department and Utility Locating (1st year), Water Resources (1st year).

Silver Level Awards, which represent a lost workday incidence rate at least 50% below industry average, went to the Electric Department (1st year).

Greenville Utilities was also recognized, along with two other companies in Pitt County, for reaching the milestone of one million hours without a lost time accident in 2015.

Congratulations to all on a job well done — safely!
