Lou Jean Manning Retires

Part-Time Trainer
December 19, 2016

Part-Time Trainer Lou Jean Manning recently celebrated her retirement after 13 years of service at GUC. She's looking forward to spending more time at home with her family.

"I want to just enjoy life," said Lou Jean. In addition to riding her bike and working in the yard, Lou Jean said she looks forward to sleeping in and not having many deadlines. But most importantly, she'll be able to spend more time with her husband, Mitchell, and their two children and four grandchildren.  "I look forward to enjoying more time with my grandchildren and boating with them on the Pamlico River."

As exciting as retirement sounds, she says she'll miss Greenville Utilities. "GUC has been an incredible opportunity and will always be special to me," she said. "I'm going to miss the people and interacting with all of our great employees."

As a Trainer, Lou Jean helped coordinate programs that provide learning opportunities for employees at GUC. She also provided team building workshops and one-on-one career coaching to enhance individual and team success; and she helped coordinate and run the day-long New Employee Training (NET) that all employees attend at some point during their first few months with GUC.

Lou Jean does plan to help Utility Training Officer Carol Bazemore from time to time training employees on certain leadership and customer service courses. She will also continue teaching courses at Pitt Community College.

We look forward to seeing her around and wish her the very best in her retirement. Congrats, Lou Jean!
