Service Awards

Dean Roberson / 25 Years

Dean Roberson, Water Resources Equipment Operator V, recently celebrated 25 years of service to GUC. Dean operates equipment like backhoes, excavators, and large hauling trucks for Water maintenance crews, and performs other tasks as needed. Equipment Operators have a lot of responsibilities and have to be mindful of what's going on around the equipment so crews stay safe. "I do a lot of different stuff with my job and like that not every day is the same," he said. "I also enjoy the people here. We're like one big, happy family. I feel blessed to be here and to have learned from a lot of different people over the years." Dean and his wife, Janice, have two adult children, Tarrence, and Jean, as well as two grandchildren. Dean enjoys a lot of hobbies, but mostly fishing, horseback riding, bike riding with his wife, four wheeling, and riding his Harley.

He and his wife, Paige, have four adult children and a two-year-old granddaughter. William likes to cook (he's famous for his honey bun cakes) and, most of all, hang out with his family.

Jason Thomas wrote a compliment regarding his experience with Gas Service Workers John Sheppard and Paul Edwards. "John was here last night after dark, along with Paul, who was also great," he wrote. "They found and tagged the leak, then turned the gas off. John came back today around noon when the contractor took his first stab at repairing it. John tested it and found there was still a leak. The contractor got back to work. John came out for a third time today and found the leak was still there. He was still here when the contractor showed up to fix it a little while ago. John gave him clear instructions, after he had already given me a full run down. I could not be more impressed. Glad you have people like this at GUC."

Candice Overcash called to compliment Customer Contact Representative Gretchen Maloney on "excellent customer service she received." Ms. Overcash said she was especially impressed that Gretchen called to assist her with her online account.  "This was the best utility experience I've ever had," she said.
