Service Awards

Lindwood Smith / 20 Years

Water Resources Maintenance Crew Leader Linwood Smith has celebrated 20 years with Greenville Utilities. His crew responds to water and sewer trouble calls. Those calls involve a variety of general services such as water and meter installations. As a Crew Leader, Linwood gets to interact with customers on a daily basis. “I enjoy talking to customers and explaining to them the cause of certain issues,” he said. “I like that I have had the opportunity to advance within the company.” Linwood enjoys spending time with his wife, Melissa, and son, four-year-old Gage. Together they hunt, fish, boat, and lift weights. In their free time, Linwood and Melissa like to celebrate their tradition of gym date nights.

Keith Godbey / 20 Years

Water Resources SCADA Network Coordinator Keith Godbey recently celebrated 20 years with GUC. Keith joined GUC in 1999 as an Engineering Assistant in the Gas Department. In his current position, he is responsible for oversight and management of the SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) systems at the Water and Wastewater Treatment Plants, as well as remote sites. He works with Water Resources and other GUC departments in addition to vendors, contractors, suppliers, and engineering firms to meet our growing needs. “We are fortunate to work for a company that promotes and pays for training to develop the knowledge, skills, and abilities of their employees,” he said. “As a GUC iLead graduate, some of the best sources of learning have come from working with different professionals and sharing knowledge.” Keith currently attends ECU where he will obtain his bachelor’s degree in Industrial Technology with an Industrial Management concentration. Keith and his wife, Jennifer, have one son, 12-year-old Joshua. In his free time, he enjoys vacationing with friends and family.

Thank You's

Bill Bowen with Bowen Cleaners called to express his gratitude for the entire process of having water service installed at the new laundry mat. He said he was very satisfied from start to end - with calling in to initiate the service, the installation process, and the patching of the parking lot afterwards. The employees who were involved with that process were Gretchen Maloney (Customer Service), Joe Bronsink (Water Engineering), and Water Distribution employees Keith Fisher, Randy Beamon, Michael Silverthorne, Tracy Colville, Ramsey Covington, Kyle Veneski, and Jason Owens.

Robin Bliven sent a compliment via Facebook for Gas Service Worker John Sheppard and Gas Customer Records Clerk Karyn Wilson for providing excellent customer service. “I had the best customer service from the Gas Department today,” she wrote. She went on to write that she was impressed with the communication, quick response, concern, and follow-up that she received from both John and Karyn.

Mrs. Krause called in a compliment to Customer Contact Representative Gretchen Maloney. She wanted us to know that Gretchen did a fantastic and patient job helping Mrs. Krause with navigating the GUC website.
