GUC Receives State Safety Awards

April 30, 2019

Safety is a top priority here at GUC. The NC Department of Labor (NCDOL) and the Greenville-Pitt County Chamber of Commerce recognized our efforts to work safely at the annual Safety Banquet on April 16th. For some of our departments, this was the twelfth consecutive year earning awards at the banquet. In all, we were honored with 16 safety awards.

Gold Level Awards were presented to companies with days away from work, job transfers, or restricted time rates at least 50% below industry average. Awards at this level went to Administration (12th year), Express Office (12th year), Human Resources (12th year), Information Technology (12th year), Wastewater Treatment Plant (12th year), Administration Building (11th year), Customer Relations (6th year), Red Banks (5th year), Meter (5th year), Water Treatment Plant (2nd year), and Gas and Utility Locating (1st year)

Silver Level Awards were presented to companies with days away from work rates at least 50% below industry average. Awards at this level went to Electric (4th year), Engineering/Operations Center (3rd year), Finance (2nd year), and Water Resources (1st year).

NCDOL’s Safety Awards Program was established in 1946 and recognizes private and public organizations throughout the state that maintain good safety records.

Congratulations to all on a job well done – safely!
