Service Awards

Butch Stroud / 25 Years
Butch Stroud, Water Resources Pipe Crew Leader II, recently celebrated his 25th year with GUC. He and his crew predominantly handle major water/sewer construction projects, install new water/sewer mains, and perform maintenance and repair on existing mains. Their projects mostly deal with large diameter pipes and valves. Butch says he enjoys working outdoors and especially enjoys working with those on his crew and other crews.

Connie McGowan / 20 Years
Tree Trimmer Crew Leader Connie McGowan has celebrated 20 years with GUC. Connie and his Line Clearing Crew keep the trees and vegetation near our power lines and rights-of-way cut back and maintained to help prevent outages, and to make it easier for electric line crews to gain access to power lines and facilities. They work throughout our electric system on a three-year cycle and are careful about how they do their jobs based on what species of tree they're working on. Connie is also an ISA (International Society of Arboriculture) certified arborist, and customers frequently  call Connie and his crew for issues related to trees near or in contact with power lines. When asked what he’s enjoyed most in his career, Connie said, “simply being able to work somewhere like GUC that not only brings in steady pay but lets us work with good people. That’s what I’ve enjoyed most.”
