Communicating about safety continues to be a big focus for GUC. The hope is that efforts will translate into more and more conversations around safety among all employees. 

One visible thing you’ll notice is that restroom signs are back, like the one pictured on the left. Please be sure to read them and talk about them with your co-workers. They’ll be changed out regularly. 

Conversation starters have also been provided to Department Directors and the CSI Committee for distribution to supervisors and crew leaders, to assist with asking meaningful questions that can spur good conversations. 

GUC also held a series of focus groups recently. A facilitator from Dekra led these discussions about employees’ perception of the safety culture at GUC. Kelly Smith, Safety Culture Specialist, attended the focus groups. “Employees shared a great deal of helpful information,” said Kelly. “While the feedback wasn’t as positive as we had hoped, we are glad employees were willing to share it. The employee feedback will help us shape our efforts moving forward. Thank you to everyone who participated in these sessions.”
