Ken Woodson Retires

January 4, 2022

Water Treatment Plant Operator III Ken Woodson has retired after 25 years of service with Greenville Utilities. Ken began his career in a part-time position as a Drafting Technician in the Gas Department. He then moved to the Water Resources Department as a CAD Specialist, and then a GIS Specialist in the IT Department. In 2012, Ken made his way back to the Water Resources Department as a Water Treatment Plant Operator. As an Operator, he worked with the other Operators to regulate the treatment process by continuously monitoring and testing the water as it comes in from the Tar River and makes its way through the plant. Operators make adjustments to the process as needed and treat an average of 12.6 million gallons a day.

“I am really glad I came to work at GUC,” said Ken. “It has been a great place to work, with a lot of fantastic people.” Ken says in his retirement, he’s planning on enjoying himself. “I’ve been working since I was 14 years old,” he said. “It will be great to just do whatever I want every day.”

Good luck in retirement, Ken!
