Kevin Smith Retires
Kevin Smith recently retired after almost 32 years of service with GUC. Kevin started out at GUC as a part-time Laboratory Technician at the Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) and retired from his current position as a WWTP Operator III.
As an Operator, he continuously monitored pumping rates and all aspects of the biological treatment process, collected samples from different points in the treatment system for laboratory testing and analyses, and made rounds every two hours to check the various stages of the treatment process. The information that operators collect is entered in the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system, which is the heartbeat of the plant and tracks the trends at the WWTP. "Knowing that my work helps protect the environment is important to me," said Kevin. "It's been great to work at a company like GUC."
In retirement, Kevin plans to spend more time with his two adult children: son, Nicholas, and daughter, Cameron, and the rest of his family.
Congratulations on your retirement, Kevin!
