Service Awards

David Telfair / 20 Years
David Telfair recently celebrated 20 years of service with Greenville Utilities. As a Gas Systems Crew Leader I, he leads a heavy construction crew that operates a valve truck. They work primarily on main line valves, which are devices used to handle and control the flow of gas through our distribution system. In addition, the crew ensures emergency valves are working properly should an emergency arise. They also help with service calls when needed. When the Locate section needs help finding gas lines, they assist there as well.  “I like that I get to work on a variety of things in my job,” said David. “Every day is different.” David says he also likes working outdoors and that the camaraderie he has with his crew makes it feel like family.

Thank You's

The following ‘Bless Your Heart’ ran in the Daily Reflector on April 7th regarding a routine gas meter change-out by Senior Gas Service Workers John Sheppard and Jason Haddock: “BYH to the GUC worker replacing gas meters in Main Street Village. Not only was he polite and professional, but he was also really caring to ensure everything was working properly prior to his departure. He’s the example GUC represents in our community.”

Peter West sent the following compliment regarding work recently done at his home by Troubleshooter Crew Leader Timmy Pollard, Overhead Lineworker Tucker Foell, Underground Lineworker Matt Board, and Substation Lineworker Kevin Jones. “All of these men were courteous, kind, and worked diligently to make the repair happen. GUC and the Greenville community are fortunate to have such hard-working, dedicated men who will go out at 4:00p.m. Sunday afternoon and set such a good example of people caring for people. Very grateful for the service of these men and GUC; and very proud we have such a fine utility group serving the citizens of Greenville and Pitt County.”

Ms. Collins called in to share her appreciation of the “swift repair” done to the streetlight near her home. She was very appreciative of the crew, which included Troubleshooter Crew Leader Casey Jones and Overhead Lineworker Nick Proctor.
