Safety Welcomes New Team Member

August 31, 2022

GUC’s Safety Team grew this month with the addition of Samantha “Sam” Evans -- our new Safety Specialist II/Lighthouse Facilitator. Sam will be our full-time Lighthouse Facilitator, as well as provide support for our other safety activities and programs. She will be part of the CSI (Corporate Safety Initiative) Program Team and share information back and forth from Lighthouse and the Team.

“We are fully invested in our safety program,” said Tony Cannon, General Manager/CEO, “and the creation of this position is proof of that investment.”

Sam builds on the excellent work of the previous Lighthouse Facilitators, Blake Horton, Brian Greer, and Mickey Dawson, and with a full-time focus, can take the process even further.

Sam was born and raised in Wilmington and is an ECU graduate. She comes to GUC from Cedar Rapids, Iowa where she was employed with The Solid Waste Agency as an Environmental Health & Safety Manager. Her mother moved with her to Greenville, and Sam says Greenville feels like home. “I’m looking forward to getting to know everyone and being part of the GUC family,” she said. “So far, it’s been great and I’m looking forward to seeing how the future unfolds.”
