United Way Campaign

United Way Campaign

November 30, 2022

In November 8th, employees were able to gather for the first time in several years for our United Way (UW) campaign kick-off breakfast, hosted by our UW Committee. Biscuits, door prizes, and information about how United Way positively impacts our community were the theme of that morning.

“The committee would like to thank employees for their support this past year,” said Controller and UW Committee Chair Amanda Wall. “GUC’s contributions are assisting the United Way of Pitt County with its commitment to three community focus areas: ‘Education’ (school success), ‘Earnings’ (workforce development), and ‘Essentials’ (basic needs of those who require services). GUC’s 2023 pledge campaign raised $34,726, and these funds will help create lasting changes that benefit people right in our community!”

Over the years, our UW Committee has come up with a variety of ways for GUC employees to contribute to United Way in addition to pledges, such as ice cream purchases at most of our facilities annual campaign prize giveaways, chili cookoffs, and much more.

Help us thank the following employees who serve on the GUC United Way Committee: Andy Anderson (IT, UW Secretary), Lauri Evans (WTP), Kristen Jarman (WWTP, UW Treasurer), Charlie May (Electric), Lou Norris (General Manager’s Office), Lena Previll (HR), Branson Rogers (Gas), Amanda Wall (Finance, UW Chair), Erin Walton (Public Information), and LeAnne Wetherington (Customer Relations, UW Co-Chair).

Congrats to our top tier prize winners, Marcus Pippins and Caitlyn McLawhorn!
