Caitlyn McLawhorn, Accounting Technician I, has been with GUC for three years. She started out as a temporary cashier before moving into her current position. As an Accounting Technician, Caitlyn is responsible for accounts payable. This involves receiving, verifying, and auditing supplier and vendor invoices. She also ensures payments are made in a timely and accurate manner, along with processing financial and accounting information. 

Fun fact! Caitlyn purchased her first home at 22 years old. 

What are your favorite things about your job? I really like problem solving.  

What did you want to be when you were younger? A vet. 

What motivates you to work hard? I just really enjoy what I do. 

What’s your proudest career accomplishment? Working at GUC! 

What was your very first job? I stocked shelves at the bread company my family owned. 

What advice do you offer to those who are new to the utility industry? Network and make connections. Also, don’t be shy; ask questions. 

Do you have a favorite family recipe? My mom’s cream cheese cookies. 

What is your favorite holiday tradition? Thanksgiving because I like to eat. 

What would you like us to know about your family? I was born and raised in Greenville, NC. My dad is retired from the City of Greenville, my mom used to work in insurance, and my sister works at Greenville Fire and Rescue. 

What’s your favorite restaurant? Ruth’s Chris Steak House. 

Have you ever had a nickname? Some people call me Cam or Cammy because of my initials CAM. 

What app do you use the most? Snapchat. 

Who is your hero? My parents because they are always there. 

What’s your favorite snack? Goldfish. 

Given a chance, who would you like to be for a day? Anyone rich. 

What have been your favorite travel destinations? The Bahamas. 

What would you do if you won the lottery? I would get into real estate and still work at GUC. 

Do you collect anything or have any hobbies? I like to read and play video games. 

What emoji do you use the most? The laughing face. 

Coke or Pepsi? I drink Fanta more. 
 
What’s your favorite thing to do when not at work? Play video games, exercise, and spend time with my family. 

What is at the top of your bucket list? Scuba diving.
