Accomplishments

Congratulations to the following Water Treatment Plant (WTP) employees on obtaining certifications from the NC Water Treatment Facility Operators Certification Board. Facility Manager Julius Patrick received his Collections I certification. Maintenance Crew Leader Wade Corbitt received his A-Surface certification. Tripp Morgan, Maintenance Mechanic III, received his B- Surface certification. Operator III Brandon Burleson and Water Quality Specialist I Tyler Palochak received their B-Well Certifications. Operators I Brad Dunn, Brandon Cox, and Corey Mays obtained their C-Well certifications.

Congratulations also to Water Resources O/M Crew Leader I Alex Congleton and O/M Technicians II Kyle Bird and Josh Dilda on receiving their C-Distribution certifications.

To obtain these certifications, employees attended Board-approved certification schools where they studied and were tested on a variety of topics including pumps, instrumentation, bacteriology, iron and manganese removal, corrosion control, lab procedures, disinfection, and more.

Congratulations to Wastewater Treatment Plant Facility Manager Jason Manning on the birth of his grandson, Jack Miles Lull.

Congratulations also to Trinity Hines, Legal Intern, and Natalie O’Neal, Electric Senior Administrative Assistant, on the birth of their daughter/granddaughter, Nuri Solei Hines.

Brad Rawls, Wimco Corporation Superintendent, sent an email complimenting Gas Systems Crew Leader Michael Mills along with Gas Systems Technicians Ramsey Covington, Stephen Roebuck, Willie Boyd, and Mickey Dawson for providing excellent customer service while working on a project on Worthington Road. He stated that the Gas crew worked hard and knocked out a big scope of work for the project site. Moreover, he stated that the crew has made it a great process from planning to gas installation, and that it was a pleasure to work with such a great group of guys.

Elizabeth Mitchell called to compliment Gas Service Specialists Chris Wallace and Adam Wilson for providing excellent customer service while performing a routine meter change. She stated that they were very nice, helpful, and knowledgeable.

Stephanie King wrote to compliment Customer Contact Representative Katelyn Waters on how “personable, helpful, and great” she was. “Katelyn used all her resources to assist me with my matter and was just a pleasure,” she wrote.

David Johnson called to let us know how much he appreciates the “kindness and professionalism” showed by Meter Field Technician Ernest Overton. “He showed humanity and kindness, and I feel like he went beyond what he had to do,” said Mr. Johnson. “I just want Ernest to know that what he did for me today made a lot of difference in a lot of things for me.”

Andrew Ferris sent an email praising Customer Contact Representative Mandy Coldren for the way she helped him solve a billing issue. Mr. Ferris commended Mandy’s friendliness and patience as he asked questions to fully understand the problem and address it directly.

Anna Bunnell with the East Carolina University Department of Biology sent a note to Wastewater Treatment Plant staff thanking them for a recent plant tour they gave to her and her biology students. “This is such a valuable tour,” she wrote, “and I am grateful for the time and effort that you all gave us to raise awareness of the importance of wastewater treatment.”
