Getting In The Holiday Spirit
Getting In The Holiday Spirit
Hats off to our operating departments for continuing the tradition of decorating GUC vehicles for the Greenville Jaycees’ Christmas Parade – this year on December 2nd. For the eighth time, it was held at night, so the parade was filled with festive, twinkling lights.
Special thanks to Electric, Gas and Water Resources employees who decorated and operated the GUC vehicles for the parade. Lineworker Carter Gaskins drove the bucket truck with float while his girlfriend rode along. Those who helped prep and decorate the truck included Troubleshooter Crew Leader Jason Gaskins and Lineworkers David Bunch, Carter Gaskins, Jack Williams, and CJ Forrest. Tree Trimmer Kolton Stotesbury operated a bucket truck for local media to get an overhead view of the parade.
Gas Systems Crew Leader Chris Rouse drove the Gas Department’s CNG gas truck, while his mother and two boys rode along.
Danny Lane, Water Resources Systems Maintenance Crew Leader, and Coby Boyd, Water Systems O/M Technician, drove the sewer truck, while Danny and Water Systems O/M Technician Tyler Walston prepped and decorated the truck.
Employees and their family members had nice weather to share their holiday joy on our float this year: Enrique Basabe (Electric), Chad Flannagan (WTP), Adam Wainwright (IT), Jose Ricca (WTP), and Karin Fullington (Pub Info).
Thank you to these employees and their families for making us look good!
Celebrating Together/ Luncheon
Special holiday luncheons were held on December 5th, 6th, and 7th at Rock Springs Center. Employees enjoyed a delicious lunch, received a special gift, and, most of all, had some quality fellowship and fun with co-workers.
Many thanks to the Human Resources Department for organizing this fun and festive event!
Deck the Halls
This year we brought back our “Deck the Halls” competition. Deck the Halls is a holiday decorating contest where employees can decorate their office door/workspace or work together to decorate their common area.
There are five ways to win this year:
- Most Community Votes (via Facebook)
- People’s Choice (most GUC employee votes)
- Judges‘ Choice (3 categories)
- Most Visually Appealing
- Best Theme
- Jolliest
A panel of judges will make their rounds on December 18th to vote on Judges’ Choice, and employees will also vote that day. We will share the winners on the Spotlight Newsfeed and in the January Spotlight.
