STOP THE BLEED® training has come to GUC!

April 30, 2024

A bleeding injury can happen anywhere. We've all seen it happen too often—on the news or in everyday life. Life-threatening bleeding can happen to people injured in serious accidents or disasters. Would you know what to do? Instead of being a witness, you can become an immediate responder because you learned how to STOP THE BLEED®.

On behalf of the Active Shooter Ad-Hoc Committee and the CSI Program Team, the Safety Office is pleased to offer upcoming training classes of the trauma first aid program, STOP THE BLEED®.

By learning how to STOP THE BLEED®, class participants will gain the ability to recognize life-threatening bleeding, and act quickly – and effectively – to save a life. The goal of this nationally recognized program is to save lives by giving people in communities across America the skills needed to stop traumatic bleeding.

GUC has partnered with ECU Health to bring this important class onsite and, while enrollment is open to all GUC Team Members, ECU Health recommends that at least 1 member of every field crew receive this training.

Each 2-hour class session will incorporate instructor lecture, as well as participant practice.

Current certification or prior knowledge of First Aid/CPR/AED use is not required to participate in this workshop.

All classes will be held in the Systems Support Building Training Room Operation Center. Sessions last two hours. Class size is limited to a maximum of 25 participants. Class dates:
