Accomplishments

Will Prescott, Damage Prevention Supervisor, was recently elected as Secretary of the North Carolina Utility Coordinating Committee (NCUCC). “As a passionate advocate for damage prevention, Will has tirelessly shared his knowledge through training programs, industry conferences, and community outreach initiatives,” wrote the Committee in its announcement letter. The NCUCC provides a forum for utilities, government agencies, and contractors in the state to discuss the impact of planning, engineering, construction, and technology among member organizations. It also serves as a resource for local Utility Coordinating Committees on issues which are better addressed and resolved on a statewide basis. Congratulations, Will!

Congratulations to the following Water Treatment Plant (WTP) employees on obtaining certifications from the NC Water Treatment Facility Operators Certification Board. Brandon Cox, Operator II, received his B-Surface Certification. Leaton White, Operator I, received his C-Surface certification. Brooke Norton, Chemist II, received her C-Well certification. Cheryl Irwin, Chemist II, obtained her A-Distribution certification. To obtain these certifications, employees attend Board-approved schools where they study and are tested on a variety of topics including pumps, instrumentation, bacteriology, iron and manganese removal, corrosion control, lab procedures, disinfection, and more.

Congratulations to Water Treatment Plant (WTP) Maintenance Mechanic III Matthew Clark on receiving his Class II Maintenance Technologist Certification and WTP Operator III Zach Hamilton on receiving his Class I Maintenance Technologist Certification. This certification program is a 4-level voluntary program administered by NC One Water and is intended to increase knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform maintenance activities successfully according to current professional standards.

Congratulations also to WTP Facility Manager Julius Patrick and WTP Maintenance Mechanic III Tripp Morgan on obtaining their Ornamental Pesticide/Herbicide Applicators License through the North Carolina Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services.
