Site work is underway for a new substation that will provide more reliable electric services to the steadily growing Simpson area.
The 115kV to 12.47kV substation, located off of Black Jack-Simpson Road, saw the delivery of the 125,000-pound transformer in the summer of 2024. It was placed on 3-feet deep concrete pad at the time of delivery in what looked to be only a field with fencing around it.
Today, the ground is graded and getting ready for structure foundations to be installed. In the coming months, it will begin to look more like a substation. The anticipated completion is the first quarter of 2026 with an estimated cost of $4 million.
