Christmas Parade

Holiday Parade
Elf hats off to our operating departments for continuing the tradition of decorating GUC vehicles for the Greenville Jaycees’ Christmas Parade – held this year the evening of December 6th.

Special thanks to Electric, Gas, and Water Resources employees who decorated and operated the GUC vehicles for the parade.

Christmas ParadeHunter Sparks (Electric) drove the bucket truck pulling our GUC float while his wife and their baby daughter rode along. Those who helped plan, prep, and decorate the truck were Mike Ashley, Hunter, Cole Hartley, Tyler Bradshaw, Richard Gould, and Calvin Whitehead (Electric), and Karin Fullington and Melinda Sampson (Pub Info).

Calvin Whitehead drove a bucket truck to assist the media in live streaming the parade.

Tanner Everett drove the Gas Department’s CNG truck while his wife Madison rode along. Thank you to Chris Rouse, Blake Beddard, Briley Sutton, Josh Harrell, Justin Oakes, Tanner, and James Everette (Gas) for taking time to decorate the truck.

Thank you to Danny Lane and Robert Warren (Water Resources) for decorating and driving the sewer truck.

A huge thank you to the following employees and their family members for braving the cold weather to share their holiday joy on our float this year: Adam Wainwright and Chris Hurdle (IT), Emily Smith (Customer Relations), Sharon Daughtridge (WTP), Kathy Pate (Electric), Parker Lee and Karin Fullington (Pub Info).

Melinda helped organize the parade through her involvement with the Greenville Jaycees, and Karin organized GUC’s involvement in the parade.

Thank you to these employees and their families for making us look good and spreading holiday cheer!

Holiday Luncheon
Special holiday luncheons were held on December 2nd, 3rd, and 4th at Rock Springs Center.  Employees enjoyed a delicious lunch, received a special gift, and, most of all, had some quality fellowship and fun with co-workers.

Many thanks to the Human Resources Department for organizing this fun and festive event!

Deck The HallsDeck the Halls
Lots of jolly competition was had again with our annual Deck the Halls! This holiday contest had employees showing off their creative sides by decorating their office doors or workspaces individually or as a team.

There are four ways to win this year:

  • People’s Choice (most GUC employee votes)
  • Judges’ Choice (3 categories)
  • Best GUC Theme
  • Best Theme
  • Best Christmas Tree

The week of December 15th, a panel of judges will make their rounds to vote on Judges’ Choice, and employees will vote on People’s Choice. We will share the winners here on the Spotlight Newsfeed. Meanwhile, here is a small sampling of the creative decorations!
