ADMIN HVAC UPGRADE

The HVAC system serving the second and third floors of the Main Office has reached the end of its service life and is scheduled for replacement. After evaluation and consideration, packaged units have been selected over the variable refrigerant flow (VRF) system. Demolition is to start in July, and construction is slated to begin in August 2026 with offices on the first and second floors being shifted to different GUC facilities and rented space on Arlington Boulevard.

OPERATIONS RENOVATIONS

Updates to the Engineering and Operations Building (EO) at the Operations Center will include relocating the training room to the EO Building and adding a fitness space. The break room within Systems Support will be enlarged and there will be increased work and storage areas for Facilities. Work on this project is expected to begin in August of 2026.

Two linemen in bucket trucks

  • PHASE I:
This project, once complete, will provide a new 115kV transmission line from the Point of Delivery #3 off Mills Road to the Simpson substation, completing the transmission loop and a second transmission pathway to improve reliability. All Phase I poles to the new Hudson Crossroads Substation have been installed. The line stringing process has begun. Phase II is expected to begin in fiscal year 2026-27 and is expected to be complete by October of 2028.
  • HUDSON’S CROSSROAD SUBSTATION (part of the loop):
The 115kV to 12.47kV substation, located off Blackjack-Simpson Road, received the delivery of the 125,000-pound transformer in the summer of 2024. Preliminary grading has been completed with all material on hand except for the circuit switcher. The estimated completion of this project is December 2026.

 PEAK SHAVING GENERATORS

  • PEAK SHAVING GENERATOR PLANT:
Facilities to accommodate a 20 MW peak shaving generator plant are being built at the MacGregor Downs Substation. There are currently 4MWs of peak shaving generators in operation at the site. All five generators have now been delivered and are installed on the foundations. Work is now being complete to get the generators online.
