The GUC Board of Commissioners started their May 2026 meeting with recognitions for the NC Department of Labor Safety Awards (click here for details) and for GUC’s Wellness Program (click here for details).

Commissioners then approved an agreement with Pitt County for grants to cover due diligence studies and some site preparation for water and gas service at the proposed megasite. The megasite is a large parcel of land between Greenville and Bethel which is planned for industrial, commercial, and residential developments.

The Board also approved the annual budget amendment, which is based on current finances and year-end projections, as well as the Fiscal Year 2026-27 Budget and Capital Projects Budget. Included in that budget are small rate increases for each utility, investments in our systems, a full funding of our merit program, and an across-the-board cost of living salary increase of 1.5% for all employees. For details of other pay and benefits items for employees included the budget, please check out the memo in an April 20th email sent to all employees from the General Manager/CEO.

Both budget items are slated for Greenville City Council to vote on at their June 8th meeting.
