The Board of Commissioners July 16 meeting was a bit unusual as it was held away from the Main Office due to the Main Office Building renovation project that’s underway. This was also the first meeting for Marvin Edmonds, our newest Commissioner.
Commissioners recognized the Electric Lineworkers’ Rodeo Team for their competitions (June Spotlight https://spotlight.guc.com/2026/06/guc-lineworkers-bring-home-9-trophies ) and the United Way Committee for winning the United Way of Pitt County Community Impact Award. The committee created a video showcasing the impact of donating and volunteering had on employees and the organizations they helped. Their efforts helped raise more than $36,000 for the United Way of Pitt County.
The Board then moved on to approve the bid for the labor and construction of the new electric substation adjacent to Boviet Solar (September 2025 Spotlight https://spotlight.guc.com/2025/09/boviet-solar-moves-forward).
Lastly, the Board elected the following officers for the new Fiscal Year:
- Chair: Ferrell Blount
- Chair-elect: Wanda Carr
- Secretary: Dillon Godley
