Congratulations to the following Water Treatment Plant (WTP) staff on certifications. Julius Patrick, WTP Facilities Manager, and Chad Flannagan, WTP Lab Manager, earned their Land Application of Residuals Operator certification that is coordinated by the Water Pollution Control System Operators Certification Commission. To be able to sit for the exam, you must successfully complete a state-approved training school along with either having one year of experience in land application of residuals, holding a college degree where at least six basic science courses were passed, or holding a valid Grade II or higher NC Biological Water Pollution Control System Operator certification.
WTP Maintenance Instrument and Elec. Tech I Davis Andrews received his Class 1 Maintenance Technologist Certifications This voluntary 4-level program is administered by NC One Water and intended to increase knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform maintenance activities successfully according to current professional standards.
Congratulations to the following Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) employees on obtaining certifications from the NC Wastewater Operator Certification Board: Operator III Adam Henn for Collections Grade II, Maintenance Mechanic I Kolby Lane for Collections Grade IV, and Operator I Justin Tyler Tripp for Biological Grade II. To obtain these certifications, employees must participate in 32-40 contact hours in Board-approved certification school. Exams are then administered by the state and must be passed to complete the process.

Quentin Pool, Systems O/M Technician II, received his C-Distribution System Operator Certification. Matthew Gupton, Systems O/M Technician I, and Matthew R. Clark, Systems O/M Technician III, received their Grade I Collections Operator Certification.
Congratulations to Organizational Development and Training Manager Carrie Peed on passing her Certified Professional in Training Management exam. This professional credential is designed to develop strategic skills in managing training programs and aligning them with organizational goals. The CPTM credential is earned through a three-step process: ten self-paced interactive eLearning modules covering core competencies in training management; virtual practicum team-based simulation of real-world training management challenges; and an online examination that tests knowledge in areas such as training needs analysis, program development, delivery, evaluation, auditing, and resource management.
Congratulations also to Energy Service Specialist Lee Eakes on receiving his Building Science Principles Certificate of Knowledge. For this credential, the Building Performance Institute focuses on teaching how the structural, mechanical, and occupant components of a home interact as a single energy system. To receive the certificate, you must pass a 100-question exam.

Mr. Lassiter from Champion’s Gym messaged on Instagram to express his thanks to WR Systems O/M Crew Leaders Cameron Cook and Dylan Morris and Systems O/M Technicians Quentin Pool, AJ Jacobs, and Zach Huggins for their hard work and professionalism while resolving a sewer issue at the gym. He mentioned that they provided “excellent service” and that the team at GUC is “top notch and went above and beyond to help us.”
Customer Contact Representative II Nicholas Corsaro received two compliments recently. One was from Mr. Overby to recognize the outstanding customer service he received from him. He mentioned that Nick did a “wonderful job” assisting him and that he was “professional, knowledgeable, patient, and very easy to talk to.” Additionally, he brought up how Nick made the process simple and pleasant, stating that “employees like Nick are a great reflection on GUC.” Along with another one from Ms. Merrit to give him a shoutout for providing fantastic customer service while setting up utilities for her home. She mentioned that he was “professional, polite, knowledgeable, helpful, friendly, and very patient.” She stated that with her numerous questions that she had, that he was “able to answer and advise me on all of them.”
