Cherlyn Barrett 25 Years
Cherlyn Barrett recently celebrated 25 years of service with GUC. As a Gas Engineering Assistant II, she works with customers to make sure everything is handled correctly with getting service connected at their home or business. "GUC has been a great place for me to work," said Cherlyn. "I appreciate all the support I've received during difficult times. When you're down, it's good to know your coworkers are there for you." In her free time, Cherlyn loves to cook for gatherings with her large family and group of friends. She also helps with assisting her mother. In addition, Cherlyn has a business working with essential oils and mixing fragrances.
Curtis Dixon 20 Years
Curtis Dixon recently celebrated 20 years of service with Greenville Utilities. Curtis is a Gas Systems Technician III and works with a crew that installs gas services for residential, commercial, and industrial facilities. "GUC is a good place to work," said Curtis. "I like my job and enjoy the people I work with." When he's not at work, Curtis likes to work out and enjoys spending time with his three grandchildren.

William and Janice Boyce wrote a letter expressing their gratitude for Tree Trimmer Ray Baker and Tree Trimmer Crew Leader Connie McGowan for stopping to help them as they were stranded on the side of the road. "We tried to pay them for their assistance but they absolutely refused," they wrote. "We cannot express our appreciation enough to these two fine men you have working for you. They truly were angels to us."
William Utley called to compliment Gas Engineering Assistant Alan Cummings on his exceptional customer service and the knowledge Alan provided during a new service appointment. Mr. Utley expressed how pleased and happy he was with the overall experience.
William Franklin wrote a letter complimenting Overhead Lineworker Brian Baker and Troubleshooter Crew Leader Mark Howery on their response to a power outage at his house. "I just wanted you to know these guys are outstanding," he wrote. "They were professional, courteous, and kept me informed every step of the way. My family and I appreciate their loyalty and support."
Andre Weston filled out a compliment card to thank Mark Williams, Chief Credit Officer, for his professionalism in helping him with a billing issue. "Mr. Williams was very professional and handled all my concerns in a timely manner," he wrote.
Kent Hobart with the Carolinas Public Gas Association wrote a letter complimenting Gas Distribution Engineer Carl Smith. "Let me thank GUC for the work Carl has done this year leading the Operators Committee," wrote Mr. Hobart. "We have taken a big step forward in offering technical training through the association this year and Carl has been the driving force behind making that happen. He represents Greenville well. Thanks for allowing him to serve the CPGA."
Eddie Godley called to report what a "great job" our crew did with repairing his area light. He said they were "really polite and professional." The crew included Troubleshooter Crew Leader Mike Ashley, Overhead Lineworker Steven Briley, and Electric Engineering Assistant Mike Dunn.
Donald Matthews called to compliment Electric Crews 10, 34, and 56 for their recent work on Memorial Drive. He said the guys did an excellent job despite the heat. The crews included Overhead Construction Line Crew Leader Shawn Adams; Overhead Electric Service Crew Leader Daniel Mclawhorn; and Overhead Lineworkers Timmy Pollard, Tracy Elks, Brantley Lawrence, Richard Gould, Casey Jones, Jason Gaskins, David Bunch, Gavin Smith, Jason Smith, Nick Gibson, and Jeremy Wallace.
Dr. Rachel Roper wrote a thank you email to Jim Rapin, Energy Services Officer, for performing an energy audit in her home. "It is so wonderful that Greenville Utilities offers this great service to the community," she wrote. "You saved me lots of time and helped me pick an energy efficient, sensible, appropriate choice."
