Greenville Utilities earned multiple silver and gold recognitions from the North Carolina Department of Labor during the 2026 Safety Awards Luncheon on April 23.

The silver and gold safety awards recognize outstanding safety performance over the past year. Administered by the Department’s Occupational Safety and Health Division, the Safety Awards Program honored private and public employers that demonstrated strong commitment to maintaining a safe and healthy workplace.

The Gold Award reflects performance across injury cases involving days away from work, restricted duty, or job transfers. GUC departments/facilities that earned the Gold Award are the Gas Department and Utility Locating Service (1st year), Meter Division (1st Year), Finance Department (2nd Year), Human Resources (3rd year), Red Banks Location (3rd year), Administration (5th year), Express Office (6th year), Water Treatment Plant (9th year), Customer Relations (13th year), and Wastewater Treatment Plant (19th year).

The Silver Award is based on incidents that result in time away from work. GUC departments/facilities that earned the Silver Award are the Administration Building (1st year), Information Technology Department (1st year), Engineering Operations/Center (2nd year), and Water Resources Department (2nd year).
