Vincent Malvarosa, Facilities Engineer II

Vincent Malvarosa, Facilities Engineer II, has an active mind and enjoys working in an environment where there are many moving parts, new opportunities to create solutions, and positive impacts on employees.

In his current role, he works on multiple projects simultaneously, offering the variety he craves.

Vincent manages the Facilities Division of the Operations Support Department. He oversees capital projects and the maintenance of many GUC facilities, which include the Operations Center, Main Office, Express Office, Red Banks Office, and some services at the LNG Plant. This amounts to more than 200,000 square feet of office, warehouse, service shop, and meeting spaces as well as 100 acres of land stretching across the city of Greenville.

“I work on different things with a lot of different people. I also like to see the impact of the job I do here and how it affects the people who work at GUC,” Vincent said.

Vincent always wanted to be an engineer. “I’ve always enjoyed taking things apart or putting them together,” he said leaning forward at his desk which is covered with blueprints of renovations projects. “I don’t do much of that now, but I enjoy the variety of the work I do.”

Vincent has spent much of his career in the energy industry. While attending State University of New York (SUNY) Maritime, he had an internship at a power generation company. After he graduated with a Bachelor of Engineering in mechanical engineering, he obtained a full-time position there, where he ran fossil fuel and natural gas capital projects.

When his family moved to North Carolina from Upstate New York, Vincent followed and began working at GUC eight years ago.

As a young person, Vincent wanted to one day work in defense – building planes and weaponry.

Though the trajectory of his career didn’t take him down the path of artillery and weapons creation, in his spare time he builds long-range rifles and also competes in long-range tactical shooting matches.

For Vincent, a job well done is improving the environment for the people who work at GUC and those he supervises.

“I like to know that the work we do is meaningful for people here,” he said. “It is rewarding to be able to see the impact our work has. One of my proudest accomplishments here is restructuring Facilities to give the people working in my division paths to progression.”
