April 2018 Joint Pay & Benefits Meeting
The GUC Board of Commissioners and Greenville City Council held a joint meeting on Monday, April 23 to decide on the pay and benefits plans for both organizations. Here is a message sent right after the meeting from our General Manager / CEO Tony Cannon:
I am pleased to announce that at the Joint Meeting held with the Greenville City Council tonight, GUC's Board of Commissioners approved funding the Merit Pay Program for employees in FY 2018-19. In addition, GUC will implement an across the board 1.2% market wage increase effective July 1, 2018.
GUC's goal is to maintain an effective pay system for our employees and to be as competitive as possible in relation to the external marketplace. We also want to be able to reward employees whose performance has enabled us to fulfill our mission of providing safe reliable utility services at the lowest reasonable cost, with exceptional customer service.
Article III, Section 9.0 of the Greenville Utilities Personnel Policies states that employees are eligible for a merit increase at the time of their annual performance appraisal. Merit raises are based on the employee's annual performance evaluation and the recommendations of their Supervisor and Department Director. For more information on the merit program, please refer to the GUC Personnel Policies.
In addition, the Board of Commissioners also approved a 2.1% salary structure adjustment. This means that effective July 1, 2018, the minimum and maximum ranges of each pay grade will by increased by 2.1% and the mid-point recalculated accordingly.
Pay modifications are pending overall budget approval on June 14, 2018 by the GUC Board of Commissioners and Greenville City Council.
The Board and I appreciate your continued hard work and dedication. If you have questions about any of the changes, please talk with your Supervisor or the Human Resources Department.
