Ralph Langley Retires

Ralph Langley Retires

September 27, 2018

Ralph Langley recently retired after 30 years of service with GUC. Ralph started his career as a General Utility Worker and moved up to Crew Leader II. As a Crew Leader for the last 20 years, he supervised a crew of four while installing gas mains for different projects. He and his crew use a variety of equipment, including the directional borer, which bores an underground line without digging up customers’ yards or tearing up streets. “The people are what I loved most about work at GUC,” said Ralph. “I worked with a great group of people who are like family.”

Ralph hasn’t made any big plans for his retirement yet. He might do some traveling, and will keep up the tradition he and his six brothers have established. They gather together every Sunday to play horseshoes and some friendly poker (for chips and their special prize bracelet, not money). “Our Sunday evenings are a great way for us to stay in touch with each other,” he said. In addition to his brothers and one sister, Ralph has four grown children and two grandchildren.

Congratulations on your retirement, Ralph! We’ll miss you!
