March 2019: In The Community

March 29, 2019

GUC employees were busy in March sharing information at career fairs and other events in the communities we serve.

GUC Careers in Your Own Backyard
A big thank you to all our departments for stepping up to help Human Resources pull off the GUC Careers in Your Own Backyard event at North Pitt High School on March 13th. The school opened its gym for our employees to share with students all the many career opportunities offered at Greenville Utilities.

Farmville Middle
Farmville Middle School invited GUC to their career fair on March 21st. Students had the ability to learn about GUC and socialize with a few of our GUC employees. Huge thanks to Dillon Wade (Gas) and Joey Dash (Electric) for making our booth a success.

PCC Coffee Break
On March 15th, Angie Fuller (HR) and Lena Previll (HR) had the unique opportunity of hosting a “Coffee Break” at Pitt Community College’s Student Center. PCC’s Coffee Break program gives employers a chance to talk with students in a more casual setting over coffee and pastries.

ECU Spring Career Fair
On March 13th, Leah Herring (HR) and Sharon Corey (Electric) attended ECU’s Spring Career Fair at the Greenville Convention Center. They joined with other local and national businesses and organizations accepting resumes and sharing information with students.

Science Expo
GUC taught hundreds of kids all about the science wastewater, natural gas, and electric on March 16th. Joined with other organizations from Eastern North Carolina, GUC employees shared hands-on demonstrations and information at the Time for Science Expo in Uptown Greenville. Huge thanks to all the employees who were able to make this event great.

Grow Local
Employees across GUC were busy throughout March participating in the Greenville-Pitt County Chamber of Commerce Grow Local pilot program. Kids from throughout the community toured our facilities to learn first-hand about all the careers we have at GUC.

Wellcome Middle
Big thanks to Kendra Nettles (Water Treatment Plant) and Brooke Norton (Water Treatment Plant) for sharing career information with students at Wellcome Middle School on March 27th.
