Careers In Your Own Backyard
A big thank you to all our departments for stepping up to help Human Resources pull off the GUC Careers in Your Own Backyard event at Farmville Central High School. The school opened its gym for our employees to share with students all the many career opportunities offered at Greenville Utilities.

Touch-A-Truck
Kids of all ages enjoyed GUC equipment at the Junior Women’s Association’s annual Touch A Truck event in Greenville on April 6th. Thank you to the following employees for making that happen: Nick Gibson, Matt Board, and Billy Clanton (Electric); Chris Rouse and Alton Hardee (Gas); and Danny Lane and Diondre Moore (Water Resources).

PirateFest
Employees joined others from our community to help make the 14th annual PirateFest event a success on April 13th. PirateFest is a large outdoor celebration in Uptown Greenville offering food, art, and entertainment to people of all ages. Some of our employees were on hand to provide information and give prizes to ensure event goers had a fun time at our booth with our bucket trucks. Lineworkers Tracy Elks, Calvin Whitehead, Jeffrey Rouse, and Earl Harris wowed kids and parents with a bird’s-eye view of PirateFest.

Thanks to Lena Previll (Human Resources), Emily Garner (Public Information), Erin Walton (Public Information), Monica Dixon (IT), and Kevin Lockamy (Garage) for helping to make GUC’s adventure at PirateFest a huge success!

Earth Day Expo
ECU hosted their eighth annual Earth Day Expo on April 17th. The event was held on the main campus of ECU where children were able to participate in different hands-on activities and learn about keeping the Earth clean. Crystal Respess and Kevin Hardee (Wastewater Treatment Plant) wowed the kids with activities that showcased GUC’s treatment process and responsibility with helping to keep our river clean.

Teachers’ Executive Institute

On April 11th, teachers with the Pitt County Schools Teacher Executive Institute toured many of GUC’s facilities. Thank you to Linda Clark (Public Information) and Billy Moseley (Garage), for serving as tour guides, and to each of the operating departments for hosting the teachers throughout the day.

Pactolus Middle
Students from Pactolus Middle School toured our Water Treatment Plant and Wastewater Treatment Plant on April 16th.

Grow Local Continued
Employees across GUC were busy again throughout March participating in the Greenville-Pitt County Chamber of Commerce Grow Local pilot program. Kids from throughout the community toured our facilities to learn first-hand about all the careers we have at GUC. Pictured here are students from Hope Middle School.

Belvoir Elementary
Steven Briley and Jason Smith with Electric were on hand for the Belvoir Elementary School Touch A Truck Career Fair on April 10th.

Ayden Grifton High
Carol Bazemore and Carrie Peed with the Training Office provided a hands-on activity for high schoolers at Ayden Grifton High on April 16th and EB Aycock Middle School on April 8th.

PCC Career Fair
Kay Spriggs (HR) and Natalie O’Neil (Electric) shared GUC career information to students at the Pitt Community College Career Fair on April 17th.

Eastern Elementary
On two different dates in April, GUC employees attended career fairs focused on different age groups at Eastern Elementary. Pictured are Jonathan Sergeant and Seth Shoneman with Energy Services. Stacy Vanderburg (Gas) attended the second fair at the school.
