Customer Contact Representative I
August 27, 2020

For Customer Contact Representative Kirsten Suggs, interaction with customers is not just a job, it is a true calling. She has a passion for helping people. This is the main reason why she likes to volunteer and represent GUC during public events, such as Freeboot Friday and PirateFest, bringing smiles to customers.

Because of the hard work of our dedicated employees, like Kirsten, it is not surprising that GUC received high marks for customer service in our last customer satisfaction survey. We also received industry recognition for our low abandoned call rate. Kirsten is one of our Customer Contact Representatives who strives to provide excellent service and to answer phone calls from customers in record time. Each day she answers more than 100 calls.

Kirsten joined GUC six years ago as a Billing Specialist, gaining valuable experience working with customers before moving to her current role.

During the past four months, Kirsten has worked from home due to the pandemic. She has adjusted well to the new work setting and continues to provide the best service to our customers. Her main responsibility is to answer calls from customers wanting to connect, disconnect, or transfer service. She also helps individuals with billing questions or, during non-pandemic times, whose service has been disconnected or disrupted.

“Every day we answer any questions that customers have via phone calls or email requests, making sure they are satisfied and well taken care of,” said Kirsten. “I really enjoy working with our customers and having a few laughs with co-workers.” While some days are challenging, like when Tropical Storm/Hurricane Isaias affected our service area, she has a great team of co-workers to help when needed. “I love my job, my co-workers, Mr. George Reel, and Colleen Sicley for making it a really fun place to work,” said Kirsten.

Originally from Farmville, Kirsten moved to Winterville two years ago. She graduated from Pitt Community College with an Associates Degree in Applied Science, Medical Assisting. She also received an Associates Degree in Criminal Justice from American InterContinental University.

Kirsten is a person who brings smiles to people, whether talking to a customer, co-worker, or a friend. She said that her Aunt Dorothy’s good spirit and kindness were an inspiration to her growing up. Kirsten has two sisters and a brother, and she loves to spend time with her big family. Another person who inspires Kirsten the most is her daughter, Nettezia. Kirsten is also pleased to share the exciting news that soon she will become a grandmother.

“My nieces, nephews, and daughter are the joy of my world,” she said. Music and dancing also bring her joy and help to recharge her when she’s not at work. She also enjoys reading, her favorites being history, urban fiction, and romance.
