Tyrone Moore / 30 Years
Tyrone Moore, Water Resources Pipe Crew Leader I, recently celebrated 30 years of service with GUC. His crew is primarily responsible for light to medium water and sewer main (aka pipe) construction. They also install residential and commercial water and sewer services off our existing mains, replace valves, install two-inch meter vaults, and maintain and repair existing water and sewer mains. The work they do mostly involves mains ranging from 8-14 inches in diameter. Tyrone has also served on the Lighthouse Steering Team. He began his career at the Wastewater Treatment Plant as a General Utility Worker. Within the first year, he moved to Water Distribution as a Machine Operator and later a Pipe Layer before moving into his current position in 2016. One of the things Tyrone says he’s enjoyed most over the years is working with our customers. “I enjoy explaining to customers what we’re doing,” he said. “I take the time to show them and make sure they understand. I also enjoy working with the guys. I just like what I do. That’s why I’ve been here as long as I have.”
Courtney Basile / 25 Years
Courtney Basile, Business Analyst III, recently celebrated 25 years of service with Greenville Utilities. She works in the Information Technology Department and is responsible for supporting the Customer Care & Billing System (CC&B) as well as the Customer Self-Service Portal (CSS). Her daily responsibilities include offering support and assistance to GUC employees with these applications. She also collaborates with employees throughout GUC for various project initiatives and acquisitions that integrate with CC&B and CSS. “During my tenure at GUC, I have been involved in two billing system upgrades, with a third upgrade set to begin in the very near future.” said Courtney. “When I first started at GUC we were still using typewriters, so the advance in technology is truly amazing.”
Tommy Culver / 20 Years
Tommy Culver, Electric Shop Technician, has celebrated 20 years of service with Greenville Utilities. Tommy works in the Electric Department Transformer Shop repairing transformers and other related items that crews typically bring in from a power line, like capacitor banks, regulators, streetlights, and reclosers, to name a few. It’s Tommy’s job to check out what’s brought to the shop and decide whether to scrap it, have GUC sell it for parts, or repair it. “I grew up in a military family and spent a few years in the Army myself, so I enjoy the stability that GUC has provided,” said Tommy. “I’ve lived in Greenville for 23 years and had never lived anywhere longer than three years before moving here. Getting a chance to know people for a long period of time and getting a chance to make friends has been nice.”

Shane Bennett wrote this five-star Google review on GUC’s main Google page: “Love {that} I can have my bill drafted and never have to think about it. Never had a bill over $260 (that’s water, trash, etc.). Very fair on the price compared to other power companies in NC.”
