Gas Department Earns Fifth Consecutive Safety Award
Greenville Utilities’ Gas Department was one of 31 gas systems from across the country recently awarded the American Public Gas Association (APGA) Safety Award for an outstanding safety record in 2021. This marks the 12th year (and 5th consecutive year) that our Gas Department staff has exemplified worker safety at a national level.
“APGA recognizes your accomplishment and believes that without the dedication of each one of your employees this achievement would not be possible,” said Erin Kurilla, Vice President of Operations and Pipeline Safety for APGA.
Safety award winners are determined by their overall incident (lost work time) rates in a calendar year. Public gas systems are divided into six groups based on the annual number of man-hours worked. GUC falls within Group E with 70,001 or more man-hours.
“APGA’s annual Safety Award is given out to public natural gas system members for their dedication to keeping employees safe every day and on every job,” said Director of Gas Systems Anthony Miller. “I am proud of our hard-working employees in the Gas Department, and they deserve this outstanding recognition.”
