Don Sullivan Retires
Don Sullivan, Maintenance Mechanic III, has retired after 32 years of service at our Water Treatment Plant (WTP). He was part of the highly skilled team responsible for keeping the instrumentation and equipment in top working order and for performing any necessary mechanical repairs. The Technicians and Mechanics are certified through the NC American Waterworks Association and Water Environment Association’s Maintenance Technologist Certification program. Don has his Maintenance Technologist III certification as well as A Well and A Surface certification from the NC Water Works Operators Association. Don began his career at the Plant as an Operator.
“I can’t say enough good things about the people at GUC,” said Don. “I know everyone says it, but it truly is about the people you work with. Getting to know my coworkers has been the best part of my career. When it’s crunch time, everybody pulls together. I’ve been privileged and blessed to have worked with some of the best GUC has to offer.”
Don looks forward to more time in the great outdoors, mostly hunting and target shooting, and spending more time with his family and church. Don and his wife of 25 years, LuAnn, have a daughter, son-in-law, two grandchildren, and two fur babies (a mini Labradoodle and a Goldendoodle). He and LuAnn are co-ministry leaders with the Celebrate Recovery program at Oakmont Baptist Church, and Don says they plan to do more traveling with the ministry and visiting friends in other parts of the country.
Don, we wish you the best of luck in retirement!
