After almost 25 years of service with Greenville Utilities, Meter Field Technician III James Hardee has retired. 

The Electric Department’s Meter Section is responsible for approximately 134,500 electric, water, and gas meters on our systems. James was part of the Service Team responsible for completing all service-related orders that come in through Customer Relations as well as the 24/7 standby call rotation. In a nutshell, he’s responsible for turning off gas, electric, and water services for customers moving out or non-pay disconnects, and for turning services back on for electric and water customers. For safety purposes, our Gas Department is responsible for turning on gas. 

A big part of James’s job was interacting with customers as well as GUC’s Credit Section and Customer Service Representatives. He worked closely with Credit staff on customer disconnects.

James says what he’s enjoyed most at GUC are his coworkers. “We had a good time at the retirement lunch sharing old stories,” he added. “I do look forward to spending more time with family and my hobbies of hunting, fishing, and other outdoor activities.”
