Commissioners approved a new Gas Supply Agreement that allows GUC to purchase a certain amount of natural gas each month at a discount. The 30-year deal guarantees GUC a savings of at least $.25 per dekatherm for a potential savings of $200,400 per year. This covers about 19% of our annual natural gas consumption. 

The Board also approved a contract for construction to expand our gas mains up NC11, then along and under the railroad tracks on Staton Mill Road and NC903. These extensions will allow us to serve the Fred Smith Asphalt Plant and meet expected future needs along NC903 in the area adjacent to the existing pharmaceutical industries.
