Tony Godwin / 30 years
Tony Godwin, IT Infrastructure Manager at GUC, has spent the past 30 years overseeing GUC’s wide range of critical technology functions. From maintaining the IT infrastructure to safeguarding systems against cyber threats, his role has been central to GUC's technological evolution. Tony ensures that IT's infrastructure systems are supported by industry-standard technical safeguards, robust policies, and a highly trained workforce that understands its role in protecting the company’s data and infrastructure. Over the last three decades, Tony has played a vital role in building and securing a network that underpins GUC’s complex, multi-faceted systems. Tony’s journey at GUC began in 1994, when he joined as a MIS Support Assistant in the Management Information Systems (MIS) Department, which became the Information Technology Department in 2002. Reflecting on his career, Tony said, "I’m proud to have contributed to creating a solid technological foundation that will support GUC’s continued growth in the years ahead.”
Mark Williams / 30 years
Mark Williams, Customer Relations Team Lead, oversees a team of three at the Main Office. He also handles many of the customer phone calls and helps problem solve with customer needs in mind. Before becoming a Team Lead, he served five years as a Credit Officer I and 23 years as Chief Credit Officer. Since beginning at GUC in 1994, he has been proud to be a part of continuously improving customer-centered culture. Mark cares deeply about our customers, and when they call in with problems with their bill or making a payment, he always wants to do what is best for them. He said good customer service has always been important and has only become better as the years have passed. “Just the fact that I am still here after 30 years is great to me. But it is when I see customers say that I helped them in a hard time -- now, that’s a good feeling. When they bounce back on their feet, it is good to see and know I helped them with it,” Mark said.
Tarsha Roach / 20 Years
Collections Supervisor Tarsha Roach oversees the Cashiers at the Main Office. Her main responsibility is to make sure that all money paid to GUC is properly handled and balanced at the end of each day. She does this by synchronizing responsibilities like processing files for payments made through our website and accounts setup on automatic bank drafts, processing returned checks, assisting customers when they have a concern, processing group payments for businesses with multiple accounts, and researching and handling unidentified payments. She also manages her team’s schedule and training arrangements. Tarsha joined Greenville Utilities in 2004 as a Cashier and took over as a Collections Supervisor in June 2012. “What I really do enjoy about my job is problem solving. I like to research and dig deeper into challenges. When I help to resolve an issue for a customer, that gives me a sense of peace and accomplishment,” she said.
Glenn Crumpler / 20 years
Glenn Crumpler, Gas Systems Supervisor, oversees construction and installation of natural gas lines and crews that install and maintain gas mains and build industrial meters. Glenn also manages the maintenance of around 5,000 valves in the natural gas system. He began at GUC as a Pipe Layer I and moved up to Crew Leader before becoming supervisor a decade ago. He said one of his greatest leadership assets is that he understands the needs of the crew members out in the field because he used to be one himself. “I am proud to be a part of the changing safety culture. It is good for me to make sure that our guys are as safe as possible. I am glad I can provide everything I can to make sure they get their work done and back home safely to their families,” he said.
