Tammy Warren Retires

November 30, 2024

Tammy Warren, Control Room Operator II in the Electric Department, has retired after 25 years of service with GUC.

Tammy was part of the team that plays a key role in safely providing prompt and reliable service to our customers. Our Control Room Operators dispatch personnel to respond to customer needs 24/7. They are knowledgeable in all aspects of GUC in order to handle many different scenarios.

Tammy was actively involved in Control Room activities such as monitoring and operating our Electric SCADA System and monitoring the Gas SCADA System. She worked closely with the Meter Section, Substation/Controls, and Customer Relations. After business hours, she managed security surveillance and took care of all calls for the Electric, Water Resources, and Gas Departments. She also monitored the 24-hour weather radar that is used in making operational decisions, such as alerting employees of possible adverse weather headed our way.

“I’ve enjoyed the people I work with in the Control Room.  We are like a family and that means a lot when you’re in a confined area for 8 to 12 hours,” said Tammy. “I am so very proud to have worked at GUC. The men and women who work out in the field, as well as the people behind the scenes, do their very best to help the community in any kind of weather. Together, we are a community that serves our community. I have really enjoyed these years and look forward to retirement.”

She and her husband, Garland, who retired from GUC’s Electric Department, have two adult children (Kyle and Jessica) and four grandchildren, Malikia (20), Jasmine (14), Javaeh (13), and Zaiden (8). Tammy looks forward to having more time to do crafts, work in the garden, and visit the grandchildren in Wilmington. She also looks forward to spending time with her husband and her church family.

Tammy, we wish the very best in retirement. Thank you for 25 years of service!
