Recently, the Operations Support Division, under Finance, became the Operations Support Department.

Kevin Keyzer, former Operations Support Manager, was named as the Director of Operations Support and will report to Chris Padgett, Assistant General Manager/Chief Operating Officer.

“Aside from the department change, the core services will not change in any way,” said Kevin. “We will continue to work to exceed expectations for our internal customers and business partners. The volume of our work is generated from Operations, so being better aligned gives us the opportunity to have better insight into those needs. This change will help us be of more service.”

The department restructuring created minimal changes to the functional areas in which Operations Support covers.

Materials, Fleet, and Facilities Management along with Safety stay under the Operations Support Department. However, Risk Management will remain housed in the Finance Department.

Fleet Management maintains over 600 vehicles, trailers, and equipment to ensure crews are efficient in the execution and maintenance of utility services across all GUC systems. Fleet Management works to keep the entire GUC fleet in top-notch condition, making sure services reach customers seamlessly.

Materials Management handles approximately $19 million in inventory, which includes more than 2,500 stock items that include transformers, utility poles, water/sewer/gas pipe, hydrants and valves, PPE, small tools, and other utility materials. Materials Management receives and stocks shipments and distributes materials to crews, contractors, and community partners effectively and efficiently.

Facilities Management maintains, builds, and renovates more than 200,000 square feet of GUC’s offices, warehouse, shop, and meeting space along with 100 acres of land. Facilities Management ensures the smooth operation and functionality at all of GUC’s non-industrial facilities.

The Safety Office oversees safety training and other proactive safety initiatives for GUC employees. Safety supports the organization in minimizing hazards and controlling exposures, along with creating and fostering a healthy safety culture.
