Cityworks Project Update
Cityworks Project Update
The project to replace Oracle’s Work & Asset Management and Mobile Workforce Management systems with Cityworks has moved into two new phases or “Task Orders” (TO) in April.
The week of April 11th, the Gas Department kicked off TO-04. The Core Team and leadership went through Cityworks demonstrations and discussions around how their work processes can be integrated with the new system. They have since begun work on baseline system configurations and getting assets entered and displayed on the GIS systems for Cityworks.
The core team for Gas is Paul Bunch, Jason Cyphers, John Daughton, Paul Edwards, Eric Phillips, and Carl Smith.
Also in April, the Cityworks project team recognized the vast importance of the integration with Customer Cloud Service (CCS) and chose to significantly advance the start of TO-06 to April. TO-06 includes short-cycle meter-related work as well as appointment-based work typically handled by the Gas Department.
In the March Spotlight, we covered the kickoff for TO-03, which is the configuration and implementation phase for the Water Department. This phase kicked off in February and has been moving along successfully. Most recently, the team has been working their way through work order and service request workshops, dashboard workshops, and reporting workshops. They have also begun the process of writing and editing test scripts that will be vital for system and user testing during the final weeks before go-live.
Progress related to the project as a whole includes:
- CCS Integration Field Mapping work is well underway. This mapping will provide a solid roadmap for a successful integration of Cityworks with CCS.
- An end-user training plan is being developed.
- E-Business Suite (EBS) development work has started. GUC will be synchronizing projects, employees, and work order costs between EBS and Cityworks. EBS will remain the system of record for inventory.
