Two Liquified Natural Gas (LNG) cryogenic tanks have been loaded on railcars in Minnesota and are rolling towards their new home - our LNG Plant.
Loading them up was an impressive feat considering their massive size. They are about 13 feet in diameter and 116 feet long, making them slightly larger than a blue whale. These tanks can hold up to 70,000 gallons of liquified natural gas.
Once they arrive in the city, they will be loaded on to self-propelled vehicles for transport to our LNG Plant where they will be placed in their new home using a gantry system, a type of overhead crane with free standing legs mounted on wheels or rails that allows for more mobility when positioning large objects.
The logistical maneuvering for such large infrastructure takes a considerable amount of time.
The tanks are expected to arrive by late-June and be fully operational by mid-November.
Stay tuned for more details on this massive project!
