Wayne Hardee / 30 years

Wayne Hardee, Overhead Construction/Maintenance Supervisor in the Electric Department, recently celebrated 30 years of service with Greenville Utilities. He is responsible for supervising the daily work loads of six crews of Overhead Lineworkers and Troubleshooters. In addition, Wayne is often called on to help troubleshoot any blinks or potential issues on the electric system. "I supervise an outstanding group of guys who I'm very thankful for," he said. "I would not want anything for myself that I could not give them." On a personal note, Wayne says he's also thankful for his wife, Katie, his son, Chase, and his stepchildren, Dillon and Laural. During his spare time, he enjoys offshore fishing and tending to his large garden.

Don Sullivan / 25 years

Don Sullivan recently celebrated 25 years of service with GUC. Don is a Maintenance Mechanic II at the Water Treatment Plant (WTP). He's part of the team that keeps all the instrumentation and equipment in top working order at the WTP. "We do everything from preventive maintenance to troubleshooting repairs," he said. Don is active with the Celebrate Recovery program at Covenant Church, serving as the Assimilation Coach. He also serves as the Ministry Leader of the start-up program being implemented at Oakmont Baptist Church. Don and his wife, LuAnn, have been married for 18 years. Don's step-daughter, Ashley, and her husband, Derek, have one 5-year-old daughter and another baby due in September.

Please remember that in order to add dependents to your insurance or make changes as a result of a life event, you must inform HR within 30 days of event. Proof of the change will be required (i.e. marriage license, birth certificate). If you don't notify HR within 30 days, you will have to wait until the next annual open enrollment period to make benefit changes, unless you have another life event.

Life events include:

  • Marriage
  • Divorce, legal separation or annulment
  • Birth or adoption of child
  • A change in work schedule or status that causes you to gain or lose eligibility

Sam Patel of America's Best Value Inn sent a thank you card to Customer Contact Representative I Tonya Roebuck for help with his account. 

Terry Claiborne wrote a thank you note to Energy Services Officer Dan Oglesby regarding an energy audit. "Your patience, your kindness, your thoughtfulness, your thoroughness in taking the time check everything out and to explain things will be remembered and shared with others," said Mr. Claiborne. "Your insight helped me to communicate more effectively and efficiently to the owner of my apartment."

Bill Jacobs of Covenant Church wrote a thank you email regarding the replacement of two parking lights done by Troubleshooter Crew Leader Mike Ashley and Overhead Lineworker Steven Briley. "We called the GUC repair line Wednesday morning and requested that two of the parking lights we lease from GUC be replaced," Mr. Jacobs said. "We know there is a lead time of several days for these requests normally.  But we mentioned that our women's conference was this Friday night and asked for any help in expediting our service request. The light crew was out here the same day!"

Holly Buda wrote the following thank you note on the GUC Facebook page to Electric Crews that restored her power following an outage that occurred due to a car accident: "Thank you for your response and thank you to the crews having to be out in this cold weather to restore our power. God bless and I hope everyone is home in time for church."
