Damage Prevention Breakfast

Damage Prevention Breakfast

April 1, 2016

The Annual Contractor Awareness/Damage Prevention Breakfast and Seminar was held on April 14th at the Electric/Water Resources Maintenance Building. This annual event is sponsored by the Pitt County Utilities Coordinating Committee (PCUCC), along with NC811, CenturyLink, Suddenlink, Greenville Utilities, and the City of Greenville. The attendees included contractors, engineers, builders, and representatives from the sponsoring companies.

This year's keynote speakers were Aaron Walker and Eugene Nichols with Piedmont Natural Gas (PNG), the newest member of PCUCC. Their presentation included the properties of natural gas, the history of natural gas, various tips for detecting gas, explosive limits, and fire safety. Howard Corey with NC811 also provided a brief update for NC 811.

The PCUCC is comprised of representatives from all the companies at the breakfast. They have been meeting monthly since the 1980s to share information and promote damage prevention. The following Greenville Utilities employees serve on the PCUCC: Will Prescott (Gas), Walter Gaskins (Electric), Eddie Brock (Water Resources), Mickey Tripp (Water Resources), and Cherlyn Barrett (Gas).  Special thanks to Water Resources employees Deanna Castellow, Jackie Coley, and Stephanie Talbot for their help in coordinating the event.
