Randy Emory, 30 Years

Randy Emory, P.E., recently celebrated 30 years of service to Greenville Utilities. He has been the Director of Water Resources since 2003 and is responsible for overseeing the entire Water Resources Department, which includes the overall operation, budget, maintenance, improvement, and expansion of GUC's water and wastewater systems. "We have wonderful people here at GUC," said Randy. "The employees make this a great place to work." Randy and his high school sweetheart, Vickie, have been married for 45 years. They have two children, Jeff and Carrie. Jeff has one son, Connor, who is almost nine. Carrie and her husband, Lee Cash, have an eleven-year-old son, Tyler, and nine-year-old twins, Zack and Brett. In his free time, Randy enjoys fishing and playing with his grandsons.

David Boyd, 30 Years

David Boyd recently celebrated 30 years of service with GUC. He started out as a Courier but moved to Stores in 1995. As a Stores Warehouse Technician, David is responsible for issuing and receiving materials in the warehouse, processing work orders, posting materials in the inventory system, and ordering safety equipment and supplies.

"When I started back in 1986, at 21, 30 years seemed so far away," David said. "It's been an honor and a privilege to work for one company for 30 years and achieve this milestone."

Whenever he gets a chance, he likes to do yard work, spend time with his family and participate in church activities. David and his wife, Queenie, have been married for 21 years. They have two children, Micah, 18, who attends Pitt Community College and Lydia, age 12, who attends W.H. Robinson.

Butch Mills, 25 Years

Michael "Butch" Mills, Gas Systems Crew Leader II, recently celebrated 25 years of service with GUC. Butch and his crew primarily install gas mains. They often use directional boring machines which allow them to install mains underneath roads and driveways without having to tear them up. "The thing I like the most about my job is working with new employees who don't know the job and training them," said Butch. "I like to see them learn the job and then take it further and get promoted. That's very rewarding." Butch has a twelve-year-old son, Vincent, aka "Vinnie," who plays football for the Greenville Titans. In his off hours, Butch likes to spend time with Vinnie as well as fishing, hunting, dog training, and watching the Duke Blue Devils play basketball.
