Eddie Brock, 30 Years
Eddie recently celebrated 30 years of service with GUC. He is the Water Resources Engineering Support Manager and supervises the preparation of departmental work orders, Cross Connection Control Program, and the maintenance and upkeep of infrastructure maps in GIS. Eddie also teaches at Collection and Distribution schools through the NC American Water Works Association-Water Environmental Association. "Through the schools I have the opportunity to meet people across the state and I enjoy passing along information to those students, as well as hearing how they may do things differently than GUC," said Eddie. "I know everyone says it, but it truly is the people you work with that makes the job enjoyable." Eddie is from Farmville and lives there with his wife of 39 years, Gayle. They have one daughter, Lauren Jones (husband Douglas) and grandchild Abby. Whenever he gets the chance, Eddie enjoys spending time with Abby and golfing.
Johnny Vernon, 25 years
Johnny celebrated 25 years of service with GUC. As the Senior Gas Systems Operator at the Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) Facility, he works directly with industrial and commercial customers and maintains all in-city gate stations and regulator gate stations. Johnny also serves as crew leader for three employees who perform a number of service-related jobs. "I really like working at the LNG Plant," said Johnny. "Everyone at GUC is great." Johnny has two adult children, Cayla and Cole. When he isn't working at GUC, he is a firefighter in Bell Arthur, as well as a volunteer firefighter in Black Jack. He also likes to hunt, fish and go four-wheeling.
Jamie Braxton, 20 years
Jamie recently celebrated 20 years of service with GUC. As a Meter Crew Leader, Jamie and his team of six technicians are responsible for all meter readings in the GUC service area. Jamie began his career as a meter technician in 1996. "Time has flown by," Jamie said. "I've enjoyed getting to know the people I've worked with." Jamie and his wife, Karen, have been married 17 years and have two children, Josh (13) and Hailey (8). Jamie enjoys spending time with his family and taking trips to the beach. "I have a simple life and I love it," he said.

Larry Jenkins filled out a Customer Service card thanking Jonathan Sergeant, Energy Services Officer. "Jonathan came to my house and gave me some awesome ideas to save on my bill."
Customer Contact Representative Tyler Paul received a thank you call from Gary Dansey. Mr. Dansey was happy with the service he received and how well Tyler explained GUC services and policies.
Stephen Psyk filled out a customer comment card thanking Cashiers Megan Fowler and Joshua Bowden for their outstanding customer service. "Your employees were extremely helpful and kind to me, and very capable. I couldn't have asked for better customer service."
Elizabeth Marie wrote a thank you email to maintenance Water Resource Pipe Crew Leader Tyrone Moore and Pipe Layers Tony Haywood and Marcus Pippins regarding a recent sewage pipe that burst in her front yard. "These men were outstanding," she wrote. "They remained professional, kind, and considerate, and kept us informed throughout the entire process. They remained in our front yard, out in the cold, until the job was complete and they were certain there were no further issues. The qualities these men demonstrated and the professionalism they maintained would make any employer proud."
Gary Sherman left a voicemail for Customer Contact Representative Tonya Roebuck thanking her for the excellent customer service she provided him with recently. He said Tonya was a blessing and he was very thankful for what she did for him.
Diane Kulik, President of the Lynndale Neighborhood Association, wrote a thank you email in reference to the great help she received from Systems Dispatcher Chris Candler, who dispelled the rumors Mrs. Kulik had heard about GUC potentially losing power during the flood event, as well as the help she received from Electric Underground Maintenance Crew Leaders Ervin Hardee and Bobby Adams in taking care of some damaged light poles. "I am so very impressed with your wonderful employees," she wrote. "They have really good knowledge of their work, and are also very community orientated. They're good at helping the customer understand the work they are doing!"
Nikitti Swain called in a compliment in regards to Customer Contact Representative Emily Cruse. He said Emily was very caring and helpful and that in all the big cities he's lived in, he's never had a customer service representative at a utility company go above and beyond like Emily did.
