HR Awarded for Excellence

HR Awarded for Excellence

October 23, 2017

Congratulations to our Human Resources Department for being honored with the Agency Award for Excellence from the International Public Management Association for Human Resources (IPMA-HR). This award was established to recognize the overall quality, accomplishments, and contributions of a human resource program that exceeds the normal operation of a good government human resources program.

Three awards are given annually based on an agency's number of employees. With less than 2,000 employees, GUC is considered a small agency. The awards are based on program initiatives, accomplishments, and contributions within the three-year time period immediately preceding the award application.

"Our submission highlighted GUC's various efforts related to talent acquisition, talent development, succession planning, and the innovative approaches we are using in our recruiting and training efforts," said HR Director Richie Shreves. "Specifically, we were recognized for our iLead, UpSkill, and Employee Tuition Assistance Programs, as well as our student outreach efforts with STEM events, scholarships, internships, and pre-apprenticeships."
