ECU Career Exploration
Multiple employees attended the Career Exploration Fair at the ECU Student Center on May 1st to share their different job responsibilities with juniors in high school. Thank you to Scott Farmer (Water); Branson Rogers, Ramsey Covington, and Chris Rouse (Gas); Jessica Hardy, Caitlyn McLawhorn, and Amanda Wall (Finance); Lena Previll (HR); Mark Williams (Customer Relations); Vincent Malvarosa (Facilities Management); and Nick Peaden (Electric) for taking the time to speak with students.

Employees Take a Hike!
GUC and City of Greenville employees came together May 3rd for the Spring Wellness Walk, where participants could choose to walk one and a half miles or three miles along the Greenville Greenway. This is a biannual event to promote an active lifestyle. Be on the lookout for saving the date of our Fall Wellness Walk.

Eastern Elementary
Thank you to Tracy Williams (HR), Calvin Whitehead, and Oscar Meeks (Electric) for taking a Trouble Truck to Eastern Elementary School’s Touch-a-Truck event on May 8th for children to explore and learn more about careers at GUC.

Falkland Elementary School
Jonathan Sergeant (Energy Services) and Lee Eakes (Customer Relations)
 were on hand at the Falkland Elementary School Career Fair on May 18th to share with the students about their careers with GUC.

Riley’s Army Survivor Day
On May 20th, GUC provided bucket truck rides at the Survivor Day event at the Dillon Aviation Hangar at Pitt-Greenville Airport. The event was hosted by Riley’s Army and Free To Be Me non-profit groups. At the event, children with critical and chronic illnesses as well as children with disabilities were able to participate in activities that are offered at public events in which these children are often unable to attend due to their situations. Thank you to Zach Kruger and Chad Hines (Electric); Emily Garner (Public Information); Caitlyn Mclawhorn; (Finance) and Katelyn Waters (Customer Relations) for their help at this event.

New River Career Expo
Juanita Sims (Human Resources)
visited the MCAS New River Career Readiness Center on May 24th to share information about jobs available at GUC.

Locator Conference
Will Prescott, Chief Utility Locator,
conducted locator training at the joint North Carolina/South Carolina Utility Coordinating Committee Conference May 3-5 in Cherokee. He was also part of a panel discussion with other locate and 811 professionals.

ECU Baseball
GUC was on hand at East Carolina University baseball games against Memphis on May 13th and against Campbell on May 16th to show our support for the ECU Pirates. Thank you to Seth Shoneman (Energy Servies) and Doug Askew (Legal) for handing out GUC promotional items.
