Courtney Basile, Systems Analyst IV, has retired after nearly 30 years of service to Greenville Utilities.
Courtney began her career at GUC in 1997 serving part-time as a Customer Service and Transaction Analyst while she was attending East Carolina University.
She then moved into a full-time role in Customer Relations as an Administrative Secretary then into a Senior Administrative Assistant role before ultimately transferring into IT as a Business Analyst. She became a Systems Analyst in 2023.
In her role, she focused on anything related to the GUC billing systems. Since 2024, she’s supported Customer Cloud Service (CCS), including transitioning meter read data over to customer bills. Courtney also created new billing options within CCS, implementing the recent Community Solar billing option that allows customers the opportunity to subscribe to solar panels.
Courtney’s unique blend of customer service and system integration expertise made her a cornerstone partner in software transitions that streamlined billing processes and improved customer experience. She also identified and solved issues once new billing systems were implemented.
“What I am known most for is new system implementation,” Courtney said. “During new implementations, I helped triage errors. I have been a part of implementing four different billing systems.”
In her career, she was involved in several software and system changes, but she is most proud of the launch of the customer self-service My Account portal on guc.com.
“I was the project manager for that effort, and it stands out as a big accomplishment in my career at GUC,” Courtney said. This project was implemented during Covid and was accomplished with GUC team members and our implementation partner, Meridian, working in a remote capacity over a nine-month time frame.
Courtney said throughout her career, she was fortunate to have mentors and directors along the way to help her and see her potential.
“To be successful at GUC, find someone who is a mentor and learn from them,” she said.
“And be sure to pass on what you have learned and be a mentor to someone else so they can learn and grow, too. I was lucky to have directors who had faith in me and saw my potential and where I can grow and be successful.”
In retirement, Courtney plans on spending time with her mother and traveling with her husband. “If I get too bored, I’ll probably do some volunteer work, too,” she said.
