The Main Office Ice Cream Social returned this year after a two-year absence. To the delight of those who participated, the break room walls were lined with 10 churns of delicious homemade ice cream on August 2nd. Fun was had by all for just a small fee of $3 to cover the cost of ingredients.

Tony Godwin, IT Infrastructure Manager by day, and ice cream expert by night, coordinated this event, just as he has done for 17 of the past 20 years. He used MyGUC to announce items and recruit volunteers. He also used MyGUC to determine what flavors to have and for event goers to vote on their favorite flavors. The verdict is still out, so check back later for results!

“This is always a fun event and I enjoy coordinating it,” said Tony. “Those who like ice cream really love it. We see lots of smiles on faces. It wouldn’t be a success without the volunteers who enjoy pitching in. We even have retirees who return and help out each year.”

As an added bonus, the $77.60 left over after all expenses were covered was donated to our United Way campaign!
