Robin Nichols Retires

January 4, 2024

IT Systems Analyst IV Robin Nichols has retired with 22 years of service with GUC. She began her career as a programmer, and her role has evolved over the years as technology has changed. Robin’s main responsibility was to provide day-to-day support to all departments with the customer information systems - Customer Care and Billing (CC&B) and the online account portal. She helped manage the entire “meter-to-cash” process from a technology perspective.

She also provided support to all departments on topics related to system functionality, configuration, security, interfaces/integrations, and data - including assisting employees with researching and fixing issues. When we launched new products or systems (like the online customer account portal), Robin helped with the request for proposals process, documentation of business requirements, testing, and implementation of the selected system. For the current Customer Cloud Service project, she was conversion lead and heavily involved with security as well as the interfaces and integrations for the system.

In addition, Robin served as GUC’s liaison and system support with outside groups like the City of Greenville, our bill print provider, Eastern Pines Water Corporation, Greenville Housing Authority, and Meridian.

Robin said she’s enjoyed getting to know employees across GUC over the years. “I talked to a lot of employees on the phone,” she said, “so I was always getting together in groups, like training, company lunches, and meetings, so that I can meet them in person and put a face with a name.”

Robin has no plans to work elsewhere in retirement and looks forward to spending more time with her family: husband, Mike, of 42 years; two adult children Kelly and Josh; and three grandchildren, Eli (7), Heidi (6), and Charlotte (3). “Retirement is for spending time doing the things you love which to me means spending more time with my grandchildren, starting and finishing all the projects that I have not been able to get around to doing while working full time, continuing with my gardening and food preservation efforts, and traveling anywhere and everywhere I want now that I have the free time to enjoy it.”

We wish you the best of luck in retirement, Robin!
